The Writers

John Mosby - Editor

John was born at an early age and began winning plaudits for his writing from the age of seven. After working in PR and advertising he began his professional writing career in 1990. In the years since he has written for over thirty publications, authored three books (including official tie-ins for The X-Men and Barb Wire) and eMCeed convention events in America, Australia and the UK. Retaining his freelance status, he also became Impact’s senior editor seven years ago and has overseen the magazine’s evolution to date. He will also be seen as a homeless drunk in the upcoming Highlander: The Source, thus confirming his fear of stereotyping.

Mike Leeder - Eastern Editor

Based in Hong Kong since 1990, Mike has totally immersed himself in the worlds of Far Eastern Film Television and much more. Each month he brings Impact readers the latest and greatest news reviews and interviews from Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Korea and elsewhere. As well as writing for Impact Mike is also involved in many film projects in the Far East, he served as producer on the documentaries The Art Of Action with Samuel L Jackson and David Carradine: A Martial Arts Journey amongst others. Mike's most recent projects have included Jet Li's "Fearless" which saw him performing multiple duties both behind the camera and as an actor(check out the hair!)and Brett Ratner's eagerly anticipated "Rush Hour 3" starring Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker.

John Bierly - US Contributor

John started writing for publications at age of seventeen and hasn’t stopped since. He’s been one of Impact’s main writers since 1998, contributing television, film reviews and interviews including: David Duchovny, Kelly Hu and Adrian Paul. John hopes to travel the world seeking the means to fight injustice, turning fear against those who prey on the fearful. He is, according to those who know, a spectacular kisser and reportedly a very good cook. Learn more at: www.myspace.com/johnbierly.

Calum Waddell - Asia Extreme

A freelance film critic, Calum Waddell’s true love is indie music and he is most likely to be found championing the ‘next big thing’ (The Cribs, if you must know) and attending concerts. Nevertheless, the man has a love of all things cinema and is currently hoping to get his first script made into a feature, having gained some production experience in the independent film sector. His favourite albums of 2005 were by The Tears, Super Furry Animals, The Duke Spirit and The Raveonettes and his new book Minds of Fear can be ordered online from Midnight Marquee.

Kerry Glover - US Contributor (West Coast)

Growing up on US military bases around the Pacific Rim, Kerry was introduced to martial arts - and samurai films - at a young age. A self-described geek with eclectic and varying tastes, Kerry has university degrees in both linguistics and computer science and holds certificates in French, drama and, most recently, screenwriting. Past careers include (but are not limited to) competitive fencer, artificial intelligence programmer and rider of the dot-com rollercoaster until it stopped. Kerry is now a freelance television writer who works for a Hollywood production company. She has been contributing to Impact for over four years.

Abe Goldfarb - US Contributor (East Coast)

Abe Goldfarb is a writer and actor based in Brooklyn, New York. His film criticism was first published on Isaac Butler’s excellent arts and politics blog, Parabasis. As a screenwriter, he is currently chipping away at a mountainous pile of charming first acts. He thanks Impact for giving his ruminations on the best films in the world a patina of legitimacy.
